What is Icthyosis?

Ichthyosis vulgaris is a common skin condition that causes dry, scaly skin.

Who is at risk?

The main risk factor is family history, as the condition is often inherited. People with allergies like hay fever, asthma, eczema, and food allergies may also be more likely to develop it.

What are the signs and symptoms?

The skin is dry, scaly, and can look like fish scales. The scales are usually small and white, gray, or brown. Skin can also be rough, cracked, and dry, with deep lines on the palms and soles. Some people get small bumps on their body, and the condition often gets worse in winter.
