Scabies usually avoids the face and scalp regions. Usually, the itching is worse at night especially at bedtime. It is important to have house hold contacts come in and be treated as well. Sometimes burrows are difficult to see, however, people are so itchy that they cannot resist scratching. The itching can last a couple of weeks after treatment of scabies.

How is Scabies Diagnosed?

Diagnoses for scabies can be made by closely looking for burrows in office. If a diagnosis is unclear in office a skin biopsy may be done to confirm diagnosis. Many times, people have struggled with scabies infestation for some time before it is correctly diagnosed and treated.
