Intertrigo | Is a rash that appears in skin folds, especially axillae and groin. This rash is common in those who are over weight or obese and can sometimes be secondarily infected with yeast or fungus. |
Acanthosis Nigricans | Is a purplish, velvety, sometimes thickened skin that is mostly located in the axillae and back of the neck. Although unknown cause it has been linked to insulin resistance. |
Psoriasis | Chronic inflammatory skin disease which appears as red scaley thickened areas or skin. Patients with metabolic syndrome, such as diabetes, have been linked to skin conditions like psoriasis. |
