Approximately 60% of Americans will develop venous disease in their lifetime. When symptoms are present this becomes a medical issue. A variety of treatments are available to help those with symptoms and venous disease. We are experts in working with you and your insurance plan to help treat your venous disease.

What types of vein conditions are covered by insurance?

No one’s legs or vein should be in pain. As we age, the valves in our veins become damaged. This results in poor circulation. Blood is not able to be appropriately returned to the heart and begins to pool in the legs. This results in swelling and a variety of other symptoms.

Symptoms that indicate you may have a medical condition known as chronic insufficiency include:

  • Swelling in the legs or ankles
  • Pain
  • Tight or itchy skin on the legs
  • Varicose veins
  • An uncomfortable feeling and urge to move legs (Restless leg syndrome)
  • Painful leg cramps or muscle spasms

When venous disease remains untreated, serious circulation problems can develop such as non-healing ulcers on the legs.

What treatments are available for veins and chronic venous insufficiency?

There are a variety of treatments to cure this disease. While older treatments involved large scars, pain, and hospital admissions such as vein stripping, modern techniques are all minimally invasive. These methods allow one to immediately resume and often don’t even require a single stitch.

These treatments include:

  • Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA)
  • Endovenous chemical ablation (foam sclerotherapy)
  • Ambulatory phlebectomy

How will I know if my insurance covers these procedures?

We are experts at accurately diagnosing venous disease and working with Insurance plans. For those who have symptoms of venous disease, the first step to recovery is making an appointment. During your visit, we will perform a complete physical exam in study your veins with a painless ultrasound. The ultrasound will allow us to identify which veins are diseased and the extent of damage present. We will then discuss appropriate treatment options and decide which therapies are best for you.
