Learn more about Dr. Belaidi!

Dr. Marisa Belaidi is a board-certified dermatologist and our very own hair loss expert! Dr. Belaidi understands that hair loss can be a challenging experience for both men and women and strives to help her patients understand the treatment options available to them. She is passionate about urging patients to explore non-surgical treatment options such as PRP for their hair loss issues. PRP, or platelet rich plasma, is a minimally invasive procedure where the patient's own blood is taken and spun on a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma from the platelet poor plasma. PRP, which is injected into the treatment areas using a syringe, contains important growth factors that can aid in healing and stimulate hair follicles to regrow hair without the need for invasive surgeries. In order to create a personalized treatment plan, Dr. Belaidi may suggest more than one treatment based on your hair regrowth goals.

Dr. Belaidi has co-authored two book chapters on the subjects of hair loss and minimally invasive treatments.

-Rogers, NR, Belaidi M. "Microneedling for Alopecia" in Dermatology and Therapy (Evans, M (Ed.) (in press).

-Rogers, NR, Belaidi M. Male Pattern Hair Loss and Restoration. In Men's Aesthetics: A Practical Guide to Minimally Invasive Treatment (Brauer, JA (Ed.) (in press).

We wanted to help our patients get to know more about Dr. Belaidi so we sat down with her to ask some questions!

-How was growing up in NY?

Growing up in NY was a wonderful experience: I lived about an hour north of Manhattan so I experienced the best of both suburban life and was in close proximity to one of  the best cities in the world.

-When did you move to Tennessee?

I moved to Tennessee in June 2019 with my husband and our two Shiba Inu's, Barry and Ruby.

-Where did you complete your 1-year internship as well as your residency?

I completed my internship at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans and my residency with LSU Dermatology in New Orleans, where I also served as Chief Resident in my final year.

-What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love spending time with my husband and our two dogs, playing tennis and going to Titans games.  I am also a major foodie and my husband and I like to explore any and all restaurants that Nashville has to offer.

-How do you like living in Nashville?

I love living in Nashville, it’s a great mix of what I loved about New York and New Orleans, without the freezing weather in NY and the slow pace of New Orleans.  There is always something to do or some new area to explore, and it offers a hybrid of big city attractions with a small-town feel.

-What do you enjoy most about Tennessee?

I love the live entertainment, kind people and beauty of the area.

-Is there an aspect of dermatology that you find most rewarding?

Hair loss: Hair is such an important part of self-identity and to be able to help patients regain that identity is very rewarding.

In addition to treating patients for hair loss, Dr. Belaidi also sees patients for cosmetic dermal fillers. Need an appointment quickly?  Come see her in Hendersonville on Tuesdays!
